Situated in Tauli region of Uttarakhand, close to Vikasnagar, is a homage to the late shri Anirudh Aluwalia, a renowned and very well-known businessman from Vikasnagar. It was Shri Anirudh’s legacy, one to help people in need and do as much social work as possible. This philosophy made him extremely looked upto by the local people in vikasnagar and its surrounding areas. To commemorate Shri Anirudh’s love for the people and nature, we designed this ashram in only local materials, in the typical Garhwal and Kumaon style of architecture. Anirudh Ashram is a place open to all, with rooms to stay, a library and open farms and fields to be one with nature. The entire ashram is eco-friendly, in terms of materials used, local labour employed for construction, and sourcing authentic accessories, like original doors from Kumaon, along with locally sourced wood. We have used exposed stone masonry, along with use of wooden beams and wooden roof structure. Tradiotional “jhaalar” made of wood is used along the roof edges. Railings have also been designed in wood and roof is covered in local slate stone.
